These rivers, including the Daly, Roper, and Katherine, are among the last remaining free-flowing rivers in Australia and hold immense cultural, ecological, and economic significance.
The campaign aims to prevent large-scale water extraction and land clearing, particularly from industries like cotton farming, which have historically caused severe environmental damage in other regions.
By advocating for sustainable water management and stronger environmental protections, the movement seeks to ensure that these rivers continue to support local communities, tourism, and biodiversity for generations to come.
